The ambassador of the III class. Chronicles of the "Ochakovsky times and the conquest of the Crimea"

    Written by illustrious historian and diplomat, P.V. Stegny, this book is based on material from the Foreign Policy Archives of the Russian Empire and other sources that were hard to access. It transports the modern reader into the era of Catherine the Great. The author says that his work is an, “account of the Russian diplomat Aleksey Mikhailovich Obreskov (1718–1787), containing authentic information about the confinement of our embassy officials in the Yedikule Fortress, their losses and wanderings in the rear-guard of the Turkish army, with the inclusion of diplomatic documents and daily notes about military battles, peaceful congresses and memorable events of the Russo-Turkish War.”
