American monopolies in Africa

The untold riches of the African continent have long attracted the attention of the US monopolies. Scientists, economists and politicians paid by them have elaborated and "proved" in detail the need for the United States of America, rather than the inhabitants of the continent, to utilize African wealth. One of the most important arguments was that the United States' own mineral resources were by no means inexhaustible. This was the role that American foreign policy strategists assigned to the African continent as a potential supplier of raw materials to fill the growing gap between the needs of the U.S. economy and U.S. domestic reserves.
