Designed to two volumes (in four volumes), the publication generally covers the years 1969-1976. This volume includes documents of the period from 1969 to1972.
The collection includes previously unpublished Soviet and U.S. documents relating to the direct contacts between the leaders of the USSR and the USA, including the so-called confidential channel.
The main part of documents is transcripts of talks between the Soviet Ambassador Anatoly Dobrynin in the United States and the U.S. President's National Security Henry Kissinger, to communicate over this channel between the Kremlin and the White House. The book is illustrated by photographs of the Soviet and American origin.
