Memories cover difficult years in the history of Czechoslovakia and of the representatives of the Soviet Union in this country. The author, a KGB officer, came to work there in May 1968, three months before the Soviet invasion and military units Warsaw Pact allies with the intent to prevent the separation of Czechoslovakia from the "socialist commonwealth". The book shows that the majority of the population perceived the invasion not as "friendly action", but as an intervention and occupation.

Although the author was looking at the unfolding events through the eyes of the intelligence services, is not a dissident in its ranks, his personal impressions and judgments about what happened.
